The Barreconcept workout has a rich and colourful history which dates back to 1930s, when a Jewish ballet dancer fled to London after she was banned from performing onstage by the Nazis. The dancer, Lotte Berk Method, used this method of dance training to help her rehabilitation following an injury. As a result, Barreconcept was born.

Barreconcept has enjoyed a recent resurgence in popularity, and is now the favoured workout regime of celebrities like Denise Richards, Natalie Portman and Mick Jagger.
