New 2020 schedule
New timetable 2020.

Pilates was originally taught by Joseph Pilates using a specialist piece of equipment called a reformer; it was only later that Pilates was brought down to mat level. While the reformer might like look a modern day tool for torture, it is actually extremely beneficial to the health of your body and mind.

The reformer itself consists of a bed-like frame with a flat platform, called the carriage, which rolls back and forth on wheels within the frame. The carriage is attached to one end of the reformer by a set of springs. These springs provide varying levels of resistance as the carriage is pushed or pulled along the frame.

The benefits of reformer Pilates

Reformers are adjustable for different body sizes and skill levels. Exercises can be performed in a unique range of positions to work parts of the body other forms of exercise cannot reach.

Reformer Pilates is an incredibly effective method of increasing strength, flexibility, muscle tone and body awareness. It’s perfect for anyone wishing to correct their posture, overcome back problems, improve athletic performance or simply increase their general levels of fitness and wellbeing.

Reformer Pilates is also used as a stress busting technique. Stress has damaging impact on our physical and mental wellbeing. Reformer Pilates combats stress by focusing on a deep, mindful pattern of breathing that enhances feelings of calm and wellbeing. As tense muscles relax and endorphins are released, a sense of tranquillity and positivity washes over body and mind.
